Le Domaine de Foncaudière
Bergerac

Historic chateâu estate offering suites, cottages and weekend and gastronomic breaks. It is also possible to rent the entire estate.

Le Domaine de Foncaudière is a private estate established more than 250 years ago when wealthy landowners constructed the chateau and accompanying hamlet on the foundations of a medieval castle.

Le Domaine de Foncaudière has plenty of room for children to enjoy themselves whilst offering the peace and quiet adults and couples desire. Just minutes from the lovely city of Bergerac, the estate is far from the crowds, yet close to the region’s major sites and world-famous vineyards.

Its owners have limited the amount of accommodation in the historic buildings to ensure that you experience the authentic French 'joie de vivre'. You can choose between luxurious suites in the chateau or lovingly restored self-catering cottages surrounded by vast lawns with breathtaking views.

Large parties can even hire the entire estate - ideal for weddings, conferences and other events. Le Domaine de Foncaudière chateau features three luxurious suites, sleeping three to four. Facilities include a living area, spacious ensuite bathroom (all with bath, sink, toilet and bidet), satellite television, mini-bar, a comfortable double bed and a separate (dressing) room with an extra single or double bed.

Rates include a full breakfast, featuring organic produce grown on the estate. Weather permitting, breakfast is served in the formal garden. Guests are welcomed with a bouquet of fresh flowers, picked from the estate’s gardens and from the suites, there is access to the chateau library and formal gardens. On chilly autumn evenings, there is always a roaring log fire in the stately, medieval fireplace in the drawing room.

The four cottages at Le Domaine de Foncaudière have been restored by craftsmen to preserve their original farmhouse character with oak beams, sandstone and timbered walls and wood and terracotta floors. If you love to cook, ask about the estates organically grown herbs and vegetables and the local markets and regional specialities. And if you don’t feel like cooking, your host will point the way to great local (and very affordable) restaurants.
