New Champagne House has a favourite for the ladies!
Lovers of wines from the Chardonnay grape are in for a real treat with the latest vineyard to join our listings. Champagne Varnier-Fannière is in the heart of the ‘Côte des Blancs’, south of Epernay, where almost all the vineyards are planted with Chardonnay.
Three generations of the owner's family have maintained a reputation for growing only the best quality grapes. Today, they own four hectares of Grand Cru vineyards ensuring that only the finest grapes are used for their highly regarded Blanc-de-Blanc Champagnes.
Their Cuvée St. Denis Brut is made from grapes from a single vineyard, the ‘Clos du Grand Père’, where the average age of the vines is 65 years. The use of ‘cuvée’ in its name signifies the first (and therefore the best) juice to come out of the press. This wine was awarded One Star in the 2007 Le Guide Hachette des Vins.
Blanc-de-Blancs are 100% Chardonnay, but the vineyard also produces a fine Rosé Grand Cru described as 'possessing the rare privilege of being one of the champagnes most appreciated by women'. It is made from 85% Chardonnay skillfully balanced with 15% Pinot Noir.
These highly rated Champagnes are priced from just €16.40 to €27.90 at the vineyard, with volume discounts and free shipping to Calais for 24 bottles or more.
